Welcome!

The Old #4 Rod & Gun Club was established in 1927 then incorporated in 1928.  In 1972 it became
Old #4 Rod, Gun, and Snowmobile Club Inc.
The Organization owns approximately 62 acres of land off the Old Claremont Road in Charlestown NH. Tax Map 25, Lot 002.
 
The Organization owns and maintains a shooting range with 25, 50 and 100 yard ranges.  We have a Pat-Trap machine, a Trap House, and a voice release system.

For Snowmobilers, our Trail System  includes 35 miles of beautifully groomed trails (weather permitting). We groom our system with a 2004 Ski-Doo Skandic-SuperWideTrack with a customized Mogulmaster drag,  and a 1995 Tucker Sno-cat 1000 with an 8' AFMI Drag.

 Mission Statement is:

 

The role of our organization falls into four categories.

 

TO EDUCATE: We will educate children, youth, adults and families in the Safe and Responsible use of Firearms, Safe and Responsible use of OHRV and other Sporting Activities.  To provide Skills through a variety of methods including: Youth outreach programs, Family oriented events, Community outreach and Safety education.

 

TO PRESERVE: We will preserve our land and OHRV trail systems and Relations with the public.

 

TO ADVOCATE: We will advocate for and protect and defend the right of every qualified citizen to acquire, possess, transport, carry, transfer ownership of and enjoy the use of firearms.  We will be active in legislative participation on matters dealing with wildlife resources, field sports, firearms, land and water conservation, hunting, fishing and any activities that threaten or curtail such activities.

 

TO PROMOTE: We will promote respect for and understanding of the American heritage of shooting sports, hunting, trapping and fishing, with the intent to improve relations with neighbors, landowners and the general public.

Range Safety Policy and Rules

Revised June 01, 2016

 

  1. Firearms will not be loaded with live ammunition until it is determined by the shooter that the range is cleared and safe to discharge the firearm. In the case of trap, the action may not be closed until it is the shooters turn to call for the bird.

  2. The use of hand throwers, spring throwers or any other clay bird throwers is PROHIBITED at the range at any time. Shooting at clay birds can only be done by shooting clay birds thrown by the PatTrap machine. If you would like to shoot at the clay birds, other than scheduled times, you need to contact a member trained in the use of the PatTrap.

  3. When on the firing line, All firearms will be pointed down range.

  4. All firearms will be kept with actions open when not in gun a case or on the gun rack, except holstered pistols and revolvers.

  5. Re-loaded ammunition may not be sold or bought on Club property.

  6. NO alcoholic beverages on club property.

  7. NO glass containers may be brought on the range.

  8. Please remove all of your trash and casings/brass.

  9. When shooting rifles and pistols make sure to fire at targets with backstop berms provided. Always fire down range making sure you know where your projectile will strike and stop.          DO NOT FIRE AT THE BACK OF THE TRAP HOUSE.

  10. Do not give anyone your key or combination to the range.

  11. Club members are limited to only two guests at a time at the range.  It is the responsibility and duty or the club member to brief any guest on the expected conduct while on club property.

  12. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult when shooting or carrying firearms. Small children must be kept under supervision and away from shooting area.

  13. Safety glasses and hearing protection must be used during all shooting activities.

  14. ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLODING TARGETS ALLOWED. All commercially and homemade are banned.

  15. NO FULL AUTO. NO RAPID FIRE. NO THREE ROUND BURST. NO BUMP FIRE. NO DOUBLE TAPS ALLOWED.  ROUNDS ARE NOT TO BE FIRED ANY FASTER THAN 1 ROUND EVERY FIVE SECONDS. Club sponsored events will supersede the above rule. (Example: Doubles for Trap shoots) Law Enforcement training/qualifying events approved by the club will also be allowed.

  16. Pistol/Revolver range (Range behind club house) is for any pistol/revolver and rimfire calibers only. Rimfire calibers refer to: 22 Short, .22 Long Rifle, .22WMR, .17 HM2, .17 HMR only. Use only paper or soft (self-healing) targets in the Pistol/Revolver Range area. No steel plates or metal targets of any kind.

  17. No .50 caliber. No cannons (No Exception) Muzzle Loading Rifle and Handguns are all allowed.

  18. Please be considerate of other shooters with regard to your time spent on the shooting line, so as to share the range equally.

  19. Paid members are to be given priority over guests.

  20. No shooting classes of any type are to be held on Club property unless approved by the Range Master or the Board of Officers.

  21. RULES MUST ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED OR YOU WILL RISK DISCIPLINARY ACTION UP TO AND INCLUDING THE LOSS OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP.  YOUR CLUB APPLICATION INDICATES YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL RULES AND POLICIES OF THE RANGE.  THESE RULES CAN BE AMENDED, CHANGED OR ALTERED AT ANY TIME BY THE CLUB’S RANGE MASTER OR BOARD OF OFFICERS.

Trap Shoots:$4.00 per round (25 shots per round)  Summer Trap schedule now in place. Tuesday afternoons at 4pm till dusk.  If you've ever thought about trying this sport please feel free to stop down, member or non, price is the same and some of the guys will be happy to work with you. You'll be surprised to learn how much fun it is.

 

SNOWMOBILERS>  Membership Forms are available online for download.  Print them out and mail to club, or go  to  Bunnell's in West Claremont or Fall Mountain Small Engine in South Charlestown.  They have our form and will register your machine(s).  You will receive your Club Membership Cards after they submit your paperwork to the Club Secretary.

We invite you to attend our monthly meetings, The 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Range Club House. Our Club officers are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the organization and how you can join and participate.

There are thousands of organizations, each with a specific purpose or goal. There are so many reasons why one should consider becoming part of an organization he or she believes in. By getting the word out, we hope to get our message out to a larger audience of people interested in becoming a member of our organization..
